PETERSEN MEDIA- One of the toughest tracks to get around on the tour is seemingly one of the strongest tracks for Tony Bruce, Jr as he followed up an earlier win this year, with a second place finish on Saturday night at the I 30 Speedway in Little Rock, AR.
A heat race win for Bruce and his Hinchman/Oil Medics/Pro Auto No.18 put him in the redraw where he would find him self pulling the two pill and starting on the front row for the feature event.
Gunning into the early lead, Bruce would distance himself from the field as Seth Bergman and Ernie Ainsworth battled behind him for the second spot.
Bruce continued to set a strong early pace during the first half of the race, as he hit lapped traffic, and began feeling pressure from a charging Jason Johnson.
“Once we got into traffic, I knew Jason was coming, but I was just trying to hit my marks, and focus on traffic ahead of me, “ Bruce explained.
Holding off Johnson for a few laps, Bruce would fall into the second spot as Johnson used a slick move exiting turn four to overtake the top spot. Bruce would hold on to the second spot as the checkered flags waved in the air.
“There’s something about this place (I 30 Speedway) where we run pretty well,” Bruce said. “Our car was pretty good tonight, but we have a couple of things to change to get it to do exactly what we want it to do.”
Friday night at the Salina Highbanks in Salina, OK, TBJ had a night he would like to forget. After starting in the 13th spot in the feature event, Bruce had his one8 motorsports machine working on the racy track, until an engine issue arose, and his night was finished.
Bruce would like to thank all of his sponsors, Hinchman Racewear, Pro Auto, The Oil Medics, Smileys, SWE, Maxwell Industries, FK Rod Ends, Butlerbuilt, Factory Kahne Shocks, Randy’s Racing Filters, DriversWebsites.com, Racinboys.com, Wilwood, Zemco Headers, Hoosier Tires, Gaerte Engines, Pro Powder Coating, Fuel Safe, Bell, Weld Wheels, and ISC Racer’s Tape for their support through the 2012 season.
ON TAP: TBJ and the one8 motorsports team will be back in action for a pair of events this Saturday and Sunday at the Dodge City Raceway Park in Dodge City, KS.
