Bruce Jr. Riding Hot Streak into Final Month of Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour Season

Inside Line Promotions – OWASSO, Okla. (Oct. 13, 2013) – With the last two weekends blank on the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour schedule, Tony Bruce Jr. has spent the time preparing for a final blitz of the season.

Four consecutive weeks of racing starts this Friday and Saturday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, for the 40th annual Winter Nationals.

“I kinda wish we didn’t have the weeks off, but it was nice,” he said. “We got to go down and watch one of our supporters – Chad Wheeler. He raced a USMTS race at Salina. It was kinda fun to relax and take in something different.”

In addition to supporting one of his supporters, Bruce Jr. and his team also focused on the fine details toward continuing the hot streak that they have created with 10 consecutive top-seven finishes. He ranks fifth in the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour championship standings and is only 87 points out of third place.

“To be honest, in racing and everything you’re always trying to look forward,” he said. “Everybody keeps talking how we’re in the battle for fifth. In my eyes I see we’re in the battle for third. Third is attainable. I feel like no matter what you do it’s always looking forward and our eyes are definitely on finishing in the top three in points. I think it’ll take another win and basically to not finish outside the top five from every race on out.”

That starts on Friday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway. Bruce Jr. placed 13th in the lone Spring Nationals event and he rallied from 23rd to finish fifth during a summer race at the fast track.

“The mindset is definitely to go to Devil’s Bowl and win,” he said. “We had a really good run there last time we were there. It’s one of those things where the last time we were there we had a really good car and were fast. We need to show back up with the speed we had when we were there in the summer.”

SEASON STATS –
