Inside Line Promotions – MESQUITE, Texas (June 14, 2015) – Tony Bruce Jr. rallied for his 10th top 10 of the season last Saturday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway to kick off the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek.

“In the heat races it was definitely one lane and we weren’t able to get a good enough start to put ourselves where we needed to make the redraw or even the A Main,” he said. “The track was really narrow and we had to come out of the B Main.”

Bruce Jr., who finished where he started – third – in a heat race, led the distance of a B Main to transfer the One 8 Motorsports entry into the main event during the first speedweek round.

“We really didn’t know what the track was going to do,” he said. “I was surprised to see how slick the track was in the A Main. I had a really good start, but gave a whole bunch of positions back by staying on the bottom in turns one and two about five laps too long. I was trying to make something happen that was not available.

“It was real weird on the bottom of turns one and two because a lot of people kept hitting the infield and throwing marbles over the race track. I was so good on the bottom of turns three and four I’d get under guys on the front straightaway and I’d be committed to the bottom in turns one and two. I didn’t give up soon enough on the bottom.”

Once Bruce Jr. moved up the track he advanced through the field from his 17th starting position.

“It was getting tricky to run the top, especially out of turn two,” he said. “I was able to keep pace and not make any mistakes. I almost let people mess up and took advantage of their mistakes. All in all it was good. The only disappointing thing was we had a really good start and unfortunately I gave them all right back. I feel like we left a lot on the table by not making the right decisions at the beginning.”

Bruce Jr. ended with an eighth-place result, which was his fifth top 10 of the season with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.

One 8 Motorsports will conclude the Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek with events this Wednesday at Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Okla., Thursday at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla., Friday at Salina Speedway in Kan, Okla., and Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo.
