A-Main 15th
This weekend marked the end of the season. We raced at USA Raceway in Tucson, AZ, for the Western World Championships. We had high expectations going into the weekend and wanted to go out on a good note. During the Wednesday night practice session, the motor ran well, and the car felt good. We laid down some quick lap times and felt we had something good to bring to Saturday night.
Friday night we drew the pole for the heat race and won. Since we didn’t get any passing points we lined up 12th for the A-main. It’s unfortunate when the passing points, work against you. It’s really important to be in the top 8 in passing points for the redraw. We took the checkered in 6th. I was able to take the car anywhere on the track, but our starting position hurt us. Saturday night we lined up according to prelim night finish, putting us outside row 6. We lost three spots on the start and slid up out of the groove. There were only 7 laps of true racing before the track started taking rubber, and it was locked down. Track conditions made it difficult to pass, and we settled for our 15th place finish. It wasn’t the note we wanted to go out on, but it's been a successful season for Bruce Racing. We finished 8th in ASCS National Tour points!
