Heat 2nd — First Qualifier 2nd
November 14, 2009
A-Main 2nd
We raced at Cowtown Speedway last weekend for an Open 360
show. We had high expectations going into the weekend and felt
like we had unfinished business. Last time we were at Cowtown,
we won the prelim night, and the main event rained out. We drew
outside second row for our heat but the guy ahead of us missed
the call so we moved up, lining up outside row one. We didn’t get
a good start in the heat and the wet track conditions made it
difficult to pass. We finished 2nd, putting us in the first A-qualifier.
We were following the track conditions throughout the heat races
and made the right adjustments before the qualifier. For the
qualifier we lined up inside row four. Our 2nd place finish locked
us into the A-main on Saturday night.
We drew 5th and lined up inside row three for the main event. We
completely missed the setup on the car. We thought the track
would get dry, instead it got rough and the moisture came back
into it. At one point we faded back to 11th. The track conditions
brought out a lot of red flags and two of them were open. This
gave us the ability to make needed adjustments. Those
adjustments made us competitive, and we raced our way to the
front and took the checkered in 4th. It wasn’t the win we were
expecting, but we held our heads high with a top 5. Our finish this
weekend is a true testament to our team!
I want to thank the guys for their hard work and dedication. We
had a meeting last week to discuss the future of this team. Both
Wayne Priddy and Jacob Wilson will be staying with Bruce
Racing for the 2010 season. We have a lot of momentum at the
end of this season and are looking forward to keeping it up
throughout 2010.
We will hit the track one last time in 2009. This weekend we hope
to end our season strong during the Western World
Championships at USA Raceway Park in Tucson, AZ. We'll head
out Friday for practice on Wednesday to compete in Saturday
night’s main event. for
