Inside Line Promotions – TULSA, Okla. (April 25) – One of the most exciting sprint car races is less than two weeks away.
The 3rd annual Sprintsource.com Rock ‘N Roll 50 – the only 50-lap race on the ASCS National Tour this season – is May 7 at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark.
A car show, featuring the TBJ Promotions’ sprint car team and others, will kick off the festivities on the Thursday night before – May 5. The event is in a parking lot on the corner of Stage Road and Kirby Whitten Road in nearby Bartlett, Tenn.
“It’s a huge hot road show,” TBJ Promotions’ Founder Tony Bruce Jr. said. “Come out to the car show. Here’s your chance to come hang out with me for awhile and shoot the breeze while I’m just being me. Everybody just hangs out. Roll up in your ride, pop your hood and start talking.”
TBJ Promotions will also be at Riverside International Speedway from approximately noon to 6 p.m. on May 5-6 to sell advanced tickets at a discounted rate.
On race day, the front gate is scheduled to open at 5:30 p.m. with racing listed for 7:30 p.m.
TBJ Promotions’ ensuing event – the 3rd annual Steve King Memorial – is only one month away.
Named for late sprint car driver Steve King, who lost his life in a racing accident in 2006, the two-day show will be held at Jetmore Motorplex in Jetmore, Kan., on the Saturday and Sunday of Memorial Day weekend – May 28-29.
“It’s my favorite event that we do,” Bruce Jr. said. “It was kind of a thing that the King family and I put together. Mainly because Steve was from Jetmore and there was a race track just sitting there. Steve’s dad and I got together, one thing led to another after a few Coors Lights and here we are.”
The races will feature cars from the ASCS Sooner Region and NCRA, but there’s more than just action at the track. The event begins on May 28 with a hamburger feed for the community and race teams in downtown Jetmore at noon.
At 2 p.m., the teams are scheduled to parade to the track with the races scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The pits open at 4 p.m. and the front gate at 5:30 p.m.
There will also be a raffle throughout the weekend for a quilt and various prizes.
“It’s a pretty special event for me because my first laps in a sprint car were at Jetmore,” Bruce Jr. said. “My first race was at Jetmore and my first win was at Jetmore. Jetmore is just as much of my home track as it was Steve’s.”
